About Us

Our Mission
ModernHawk’s mission is to provide the best aircraft maintenance tracking software available, and make it accessible to any company. We help companies improve the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of their maintenance and record keeping processes.

History
ModernHawk started in 2017 after recognizing a need for aviation maintenance software that was designed from the ground up for utility/field operations.  We have been in the utility helicopter industry for the past 15 years and have seen many different ways to track maintenance. We are confident that ModernHawk has the best solution for your company’s needs.  As the Army began liquidating Black Hawks through the Black Hawk Exchange and Sales Transaction (BEST) program, we knew there would be a need for a system that would import the current status of the aircraft as well as all tracked components and inspections.  We set out to build a system that would do all that and more, creating a successful prototype that was intuitive and seamless for both the pilots and mechanics.

ModernHawk Released

In December of 2019 ModernHawk released a fully digital database capable of tracking all single or twin engine aircraft, vehicles, and support equipment in one intuitive system.  ModernHawk’s software is capable of digital record keeping as well as secure digital sign-offs.  We are proud to be supporting many different airframes across the aviation community and we continue to grow everyday! We are passionate about our mission to provide the best aircraft maintenance software, accessible to any company.

Owner/Founder

Dane Mickelsen

Dane started his aviation journey in 2005 when he was a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was also enrolled at Guidance Aviation earning his commercial and certified flight instructor (helicopter) ratings. After completing his degree in late 2007 Dane was accepted to flight school with the U.S. Army. He went on to become an honor graduate in mid 2009 and began his career flying the UH-60 Black Hawk. Since flying in the Army Dane has had a rewarding career in the civilian sector flying mostly H-60’s, AS-350’s, B-407’s, and B-206’s. This experience and exposure to different aspects of aviation led him to create ModernHawk, a tracking program designed for the utility helicopter market.
